Trip Introduction
The Arun valley and Everest base camp provides really superb views of both Mt Everest and Mount Makalu. It is located between the Sagarmatha and Makalu-Barun National Parks. Trekking in this valley provides an alternative approach to the Khumbu region. We recommend this approach to those people who have already been in the Everest region and want revisit Everest Base Camp (Kalapattar) via a less traveled route until Lukla.
The trek requires stamina and fitness to fully appreciate the beauty of the region, which provides some outstanding mountain views. Commencing with a flight to Tumlingtar to the East of Everest, the first week is spent trekking through virgin territory into the Solu Khumbu region before a push up on the main Everest trail to Kallapattar for tremendous close ups of Everest Nuptse and Lhotse along with many others before a journey back to Lukla and a flight to Kathmandu. An Arun valley trek is still remote but there are available teahouse facilities for a small group and it is easy trekking routes up to lukla follow to the Arun River. It will be Trekking on these trails. This trekking is possible to operate in any season. If anyone would like to walk back to Jiri and take a bus to Kathmandu it is also possible or keep continues to Everest base camp as well.
Culturally, the Arun Trek is very interesting - moving from Sherpa through to Rai villages, then down to Chhetri and Brahmin villages. Despite the chain of basic lodges, impromptu lodgings can be found in keeping with traditional hospitality throughout Eastern Nepal. Only one village, probably Brahmin, insisted that I should continue on my way, and would provide me no food or lodging - otherwise you will usually find helpful and generous people when you need them.
This Everest Base camp & Kalapathar trek based on for the well experienced hikers and if this is not suit you then you can take alternatively as 20 days one fly in and fly put Lukla. On this trek itinerary we follow an ancient route that will take us through farm villages, across the valley and through the high mountain and monasteries. The views grow even more spectacular as we venture up the Dudh Kosi River to Namche Bazaar, the gateway to the Khumbu region. Trail leads you to Pangboche via Khumjung village, where you will be rewarded with spectacular views of Ama Dablam, Mt. Everest & Lhotse, Thamserku, Kwangde, Tawache. The route follows the Imaj valley to Dingboche and up to outstanding view point of Kalapathar and Everest base camp and return to Lukla.
Everest trekking region is situated in Sagarmatha National Park which is listed by world heritage sites by UNESCO, which offers the spectacular view of the highlights of higher mountains as well as friendly Sherpa people along Mt. Everest. Himalayan wildlife commonly seen as musk dear, mountain goats, colorful Pheasants besides these rare species of Red Panda & Snow Leopard are an another attraction for the visitors. Pine, Juniper and birch tree are the common forest here as well as colorful rhododendron flowers welcome you on spring.
